Two generations of women activists, separated by decades, meet in Through the Mud, a theatrical production that explores the struggle for Black liberation in the United States.
Assata Shakur, a key figure in the Black Panther Party accused of killing a state trooper in New Jersey in 1973, and Ambrosia, a young university student who witnessed the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014, share their intertwined stories of resistance and hope on stage.
Performed by Apphia Campbell —winner of the Fringe First Award and creator of Black is the Colour of My Voice— the play blends powerful storytelling with a live gospel and blues soundtrack.
Through the Mud invites reflection on what it means to be a revolutionary, connecting past and present through memory, music, and the struggle for social justice.
