Taller Coreográfico de la UNAM y la Orquesta de Cámara de Bellas Artes

Giselle, las que no volvieron

* Programme subject to change

As part of Festival CulturaUNAM, Taller Coreográfico de la UNAM (TCUNAM) presents a large-scale co-production with choreographers Saeed Hani (Syria) and Melva Olivas (Mexico), who reimagine Giselle, one of the most iconic works of classical ballet, from a contemporary perspective grounded in a Latin American context where diverse aesthetics and bodily languages converge.

Performed by TCUNAM dancers and accompanied by live music from Orquesta de Cámara de Bellas Artes, this production merges the tradition of ballet with current trends in dance, highlighting its emotional and dramatic dimension.

This version of Giselle preserves the essence of the original but transposes it to a Mexico marked by gender-based violence and femicide. The work becomes a political act that denounces injustice, honours the victims, and demands change. A piece that moves, challenges, and invites urgent reflection on the reality we live in and the need for transformation in our society.
